Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing
The Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing was established at Utah State University in 1988〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=A Continuing Lean Journey: The Shingo Prize at 25 -- Discovering the power of principles in culture change )〕 as a way to recognize organizations in the United States that achieved world-class manufacturing. The award was named in honor of Japanese Industrial engineer Shigeo Shingo.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Shingo Institute - Leading a New Era of Enterprise Excellence )〕 Dubbed the “Nobel Prize of Manufacturing” by Business Week, the Shingo Prize for Manufacturing Excellence was recognized as the premier award for manufacturing excellence in North America.
In 2008, Utah State University changed the name of the Shingo Prize for Manufacturing Excellence to the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence in order to reflect broader criteria that applied to every industry, not exclusively manufacturing.〔
